9 Warriors – East Midlands U13s

During the month of March 2017 our youth development programme players was involved in a number of trials for selection for the Leicestershire U13s County Team. This is an annual event where Leicester Warriors players have represented strongly since the early 2000s.
From the trials a number of Warriors players were selected to represent the County in both the girls and boys age group, and on the 22nd of April 2017 the basketball players attended Northampton Schools for Girls to play in the East Midlands Competition.
Leicestershire County U13s boys played first in the day beating both Nottinghamshire and Northamptonshire and the Girls U13s finished the afternoon off by beating Derbyshire and Northamptonshire.
After the event 9 of our players were selected to represent the East Midlands County Squad, with further trials through the summer. Congratulations to Joe, Akeem, Eve, Sienna, Georgia, Hannah, Rohan, Imo, and Millie.
It was great afternoon and Leicester Warriors Girls Coach Reuben Walker said “Our girls program here at Leicester Warriors is growing and the kids are really enjoying themselves, I am so proud for the girls that got selected”.
Leicestershire County U13s Boys Coach Arbham Giga said “A great day here at Northampton, and thanks to everyone who took part. Our boys played hard, and got the fundamentals right. They train every week at Evington Leisure Centre and I wish them all the best of luck with the East Midlands”.
Anybody that would like to play for our teams get down to one of our community sessions THE FIRST SESSION IS FREE! We are always looking for new players whatever ability!
Boys: 10am-12noon at Evington Leisure Centre on Saturdays
Girls: 10am-12noon at Gateway College on Saturdays
