On the 9th and 16th August 2015, Leicester Warriors hosted the inaugural Bodie Hodges Regional Girls Basketball Tournament.

This partnership brought together the number girls basketball development programme in Leicestershire with the Leicester charity – The Bodie Hodges Foundation.

Teams from Leicester Warriors, Northamptonshire Titans, Coventry Tornadoes and Sheffield Hatters met on consecutive weekends at Gateway College and Crown Hills Community College in a very competitive tournament.

The competitions follow a breakthrough season for Leicester Warriors, who competed in the Basketball England National League last season (2014/15) for the first time. Leicester Warriors’ under-14s girls finished fourth in the Midlands pool, qualifying for the play-offs, where they lost in the first round of the knock-out stage to Manchester Mystics.

There are more than 40 girls from all four corners of Leicester and Leicestershire on Warriors’ books, and Coach Reuben Walker is delighted to be able to give them a chance.

“I am very proud of what the club and the girls have achieved in such a short period of time,” said Walker.

“As there has been a lack of provision for girls to progress at basketball outside of school, it’s been great to give so many that opportunity.”U16s Titans and Warriors U14s Shoutout Coach Reuben Coaching Titans Bodie Hodges Winners
