9 Warriors
- Updated: 25th September 2016
During the summer of 2016 nine Leicester Warriors basketball players were selected to play in the Regional Development Tournaments around the country. This is a national tournament where all ten regions from England take their chosen U13, U15 and U17 boys and girls teams to battle it out to become national champions.
The players were chosen from the Leicester Warriors were:
u13s Girls Jennah, Katie and Lola
U15s Girls Nia
U15s Boys Karam
u17s Girls Lois, Charlotte, Grace & Erin
Initially players played for the Leicestershire County team where they went up against counties such as Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Lincolnshire.
The regional coaching team assessed all players on the Regional Development Programme and from there our ballers were chosen to take part in their respective Regional Development Tournament where they played in Manchester and Sheffield against teams from East, London, North East, North West, South, South East, South West, West Midlands and Yorkshire.
Coach Reuben J Walker said “I’m delighted for the girls and they not only represented East Mids but also the Warriors too. Last year only 3 girls made it to the Regional teams so this has shown where hardwork, dedication & determination can take you!”
Coach Arbham Giga said “Karam has worked extremely hard of the past few years and I have seen him grow into a confident, mature player. He did brilliant!”
