Playing without a warm-up and straight off the bus, this was always going to be a tough task.
Quarter 1
Warriors were effectively muscled out of quarter one, in this high tempo encounter.
Eagles used their big men to score easy lay-ups and gain "and1's". Warrior's reeled under the pressure. The first closed out 21-13.
Quarter2
The second saw Darius introduced for a quick deuce and then a long jumper just in the paint. But turnovers and fouls marred progress. Fergus found his range, but unrelenting pressure saw a half-time score of 49 to 26 in favour of the hosts.
Quarter 3
More of the same in the 3rd, as the Eagles looked to continue the pressure. The game became a little stop-start deep in the third, Doncaster had moved out to a 64 to 34 lead. Darius went through a purple patch scoring eight quick points to take him to 13 going into the 4th.
Quarter 4
Doncaster kept with their number 15 and 12, but looked to rotate their bench. Warriors worked away and narrowed the gap, but to no avail. The game finished a disappointing 88 to 64!
No fireworks on this bonfire night for the boys, but an experience of some old skool home team Northern refereeing!
